5 Helpful Tips to Help You Get Work Done
I’m feeling surprisingly productive today, so I thought I would share a few tips that I have found helpful. I also figured out which time of the day that I’m most productive and I try to do most tasks during that time (for me, it’s mornings).
1. Start your day with purpose.
Of course, it is great to sleep in whenever you have the opportunity but my weakness has been not having a set schedule each day. Getting up even if it’s just to take a shower, get gas, drink a cup of coffee—any small step will be one way to get you motivated to start your day.
2. Consider playing a podcast or music in the background while you work.
For me, it’s been trying to get homework done. I encourage even taking it a step further and opening up windows in the house to let the natural daylight in too which can help with your motivation and energy levels for the day.
3. Make a list of things to accomplish with 3 things at a time (such as cleaning— 3 tasks for 3 rooms).
I encourage you to also prioritize the top 3 things that you would like to accomplish for the day whether it be going to the grocery store or ordering grocery pickup/delivery.
4. Plan your day by the hour or every 15 minutes.
You would be surprised how many things you can accomplish if you break your day or tasks by time including scheduling in breaks or play time. Consider using a calendar or organizer which can be helpful in getting you started.
5. At the end of the day, focus on the things that went well and not on the things you didn’t finish.
So often we get discouraged by focusing on all the things that went wrong for the day and never focus on the things that went right. Make sure to give yourself credit!
