NYC: Touring the Big Apple with Our Little Tyke

Lions, and tigers, and bears…oh my! We experienced none of these except for the lions that we saw on our trip to see the Lion King on Broadway! :)

1. Getting Around: Before even stepping foot off the plane to New York City, we researched ways in which we would be able to get around without having to rent a car. The subway was an exciting experience as well as being able to take an Uber whenever necessary since in NYC, you can actually request a car seat with your Uber ride. Now for those of you who are questioning the safety of this, you can also purchase the same compact and portable car seat that they use in the Uber ride here: Immi Go

2. Choose Where You Want To Go Beforehand: For every trip that we take, we also make sure to plan at least 2-3 things that we definitely want to do during our time there. For us, we wanted to take our little one to see the Statue of Liberty, the Freedom Tower, Central Park, and Times Square. We opted to stay within the New York City area at a hotel in Times Square which also made for easy access to the places that we wanted to go.

3. Consolidate Belongings: We used a portable stroller that can be folded compact enough to be carried like a bag (admittedly, it can sometimes be not the easiest to maneuver but it is definitely lightweight and easy to take with you). You can even fit a small bag in it as well!

You can find it here: Graco Jettsetter Stroller

4. Learning Experiences: We purposely avoided going to any new places passed 7pm due to expected traffic in Times Square. Most of our activities with our little one were reserved to mornings and early afternoons unless we had reservations at a restaurant in the evenings. For us, we try to keep things that reinforce his learning whether that be a lion teddy bear or Lion King to reinforce what he saw on Broadway or a toy Statue of Liberty to reinforce what he saw in person which has worked very well when you hear him discuss with others his experience in NYC.

These are just a short list of tips that you can use if you are traveling to NYC with your little one(s). As always, feel free to reach out and connect with me if you have any questions!
