About Mick East Racing

Laying the foundation for success, Mick East Racing is a family motorsports program operated and managed by his parents, built on a passion for racing, hard work, and developing the next generation of drivers. What began with Mick's first laps at age 4 has grown into a racing program celebrating championships, sportsmanship, safety, and family. As Mick enters his fifth season of competition and Kendall prepares for her own debut, the future of Mick East Racing continues to grow both on and off the track.

Racing runs in the family. At just 3 years old, Kendall East has already taken an interest in quarter midget racing and enjoys being part of the racing environment while supporting her brother Mick. Growing up in the racing community has given her an early appreciation for the teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship that define the sport.

Kendall is preparing to begin her own racing journey with plans to make her quarter midget debut in 2027. As she follows in her brother's footsteps, she is excited to learn, grow, and create her own path in motorsports.

What is a Quarter Midget Car?

โ€œA Quarter Midget car is a scaled-down version of an actual midget racer, approximately 1/4 scale. The cars are built around a tubular frame and are fully suspended with springs or torsion bars and shocks. The bodies are fibreglass, usually painted to the driver's preference. Surrounding the driver is a chrome-moly roll cage and nerf bars. The engines are single cylinder and are manufactured by Honda, Continental, Briggs & Stratton, and Deco.โ€ -Terre Haute QMA (http://www.thqma.com/about/)

โ€œIn the motors stock configuration, they produce between 2.5 & 4 horsepower. Modifications in the upper classes allow these engines to reach several times the stock horsepower. These air-cooled 4-cycle engines are reliable and can produce as much as 10,000 rpm's in their more highly modified forms.โ€ -Quarter Midgets of America, 2020 (https://quartermidgets.org/)

More Than Racing

Quarter midget racing is one of the most family-oriented forms of motorsports, welcoming children from 4.5 to 16 years of age. The racing environment is about children and family, not only do the kids learn valuable skills and sportsmanship, but they also make new friends, friends they may keep for life. Mom and Dad often find that it becomes one of the best experiences of their own lives as well.

โ€œQuarter midget racing has fewer injuries than little league football, so don't let the thought of a racecar affect your decision. It is a family-oriented sport that involves racing with specially prepared, very safe race cars. The cars, called a Quarter Midget, follow the rules and safety procedures that are designed specifically for kids. Quarter Midgets race on oval tracks approximately 1/20 of a mile and can be on surfaces of concrete, asphalt, or dirt.โ€

Safety features include full roll cages, multi-point seat harnesses, full-face helmets, and other safety systems mandated by the sport, all of which are continually reviewed and updated to ensure quarter midget racing remains both safe and competitive.
