10 Must-Haves in My Soccer Mom Bag
Whether you are a returning soccer mom or this is your first time taking your little one to soccer, here are 10 must-haves that I keep in my soccer bag!
1. Water.
Although this seems pretty obvious, this is something that can easily be forgotten in the rush of getting your kid to soccer practice. This can include your child’s favorite water bottle or simply bringing your own bottled water. I like to use an insulated water bottle that I pre-fill with cold water which you can find here: Chicco Insulated Cup
2. Anti-germ Wipes. Kids tend to get pretty sweaty and dirty while playing, and often will want to put their hands in their mouth. I suggest having hand/face wipes on-hand to help. These wipes are my favorite as they are soft and do not have an overbearing scent either: Johnson and Johnson Hand and Face Wipes
3. Change of Clothes. Accidents can happen whether your child may get their clothes overwhelmingly dirty or from anything else you could possibly think of (#momlife). I would suggest having a shirt, shorts, as well as a change of underpants.
4. Snacks. Nothing like an appetite after increased exercise or play. Goldfish or pretzels have been my go-to snack after soccer but for you, this could be whatever your child’s favorite snack entails.
5. Umbrella. Sure it could possibly rain on the walk back to the car from soccer, but I am talking about the use of an umbrella for shade while you watch your kid play. I tend to use an oversized umbrella just for when my kid is ready for a water break, he can join me underneath my umbrella as well! You can check it out here: RainStoppers 68-inch Oversized Windproof Umbrella
6. Sunscreen. I have found the use of spray-on sunscreen to be helpful (Target© brand actually), but it is important to try and apply minimal to the forehead whether you decide to use a spray on sunscreen or a cream. Often when your little one starts to sweat, the sweat drips onto their forehead and then can get into their eyes which believe me, can interrupt a good time.
7. Anti-bacterial ointment. Of course, your kid is playing a sport, so injuries can happen. Having Neosporin on-hand can be very useful in case your kid has a scratch or two from playing.
8. Bandaids. Again, accidents can happen. In the off-chance that it does, it is helpful to easily have bandaids available for use after cleaning off the area with soap and water and applying ointment. Check out these cool Cars themed bandaids!
9. Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen. Having an anti-inflammatory available can also come in handy in the event your kid ends up with a minor accident and would like something mild to help with any pain.
10. Lunch box bag. As I transitioned from my diaper bag (since my little one no longer wears diapers), I found that having a small lunch bag with different compartments has been helpful for keeping snacks readily available along with his change of clothes. Check out this Adidas Excel Lunch Bag.
Congratulations on having your little one in soccer! It is such an exciting time full of fun, laughter, and many fist-pumps! I hope you have found my 10 must-haves to be helpful and feel free to comment below or send me a message if you have any questions!
